INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Draw and cut out desired pattern from plain paper. Use marker to trace pattern onto foam. Wax serrated knife with candle stub or paraffin; cut out shape. Sand rough edges with scrap foam. Note: Cookie cutter may be used instead of pattern.
2. Use palette knife to thoroughly mix spackling. Apply generous, even coat to all foam surfaces; let dry. Lightly sand spackling; wipe dust with tack cloth.
3. Trace front and back of foam shape onto wrong side of gift wrap; cut out. In addition, cut several long 1/2"-wide strips from gift wrap to cover edges.
4. Follow manufacturer's instructions to apply découpage medium to all ornament surfaces. Smooth gift wrap over ornament front and back, carefully smoothing creases with paintbrush. Adhere edge strips in same way, overlapping strips as needed; trim excess.
5. Apply several coats of medium over gift wrap; let dry. Spray with two coats varnish, letting dry between coats.
6. Using photo as guide, glue desired trims to ornament.
7. Use skewer to poke small hole in top edge of foam. Knot cord ends to make hanging loop. Glue knot into hole.
