At Ludington Operations, working safely and protecting people and the environment is a part of everything we do and every decision we make. Our success is not complete without this essential component of our scorecard. Our commitment is to eliminate all injuries, prevent adverse environmental and health impact, reduce waste and emissions, and promote resource conservation in everything we do. While we continually work to improve our performance, Ludington Operations site has attained stellar records in employee safety and avoidance of spills and leaks. In keeping with our ongoing commitments to improve our safety performance and reduce the risks associated with our operations, the Dow Ludington site continues to search for and find ways of reducing our emissions and the need to transport and handle hazardous chemicals.
For example, since 1996, through process and technology improvements and the care and commitment of Dow employees, Ludington Operations have:

- Reduced workplace injuries by greater than 90%.
- Achieved a 95% improvement in leak and spill prevention.
- Achieved a 90% reduction in emissions.
- Reduced salt discharges to the Pere Marquette and River system by 50% reduction.
- Achieved a 68% reduction in energy usage.
