Dow Promise
It started as a vision – the vision of Dow employees to positively impact African-American communities near Dow locations, where economic and educational challenges may be barriers to success. It was also a promise to give something back to kids and their communities.

Since its creation in 2000, Dow Promise has evolved from a promise into a lasting relationship that supports Dow's commitment to the principles of Sustainable Development, and more importantly, community success.

Dow Promise supports non-profit programs that demonstrate one of the following:

  • A clear need in the city or community where Dow has a presence
  • A chance to help pre-college students discover the wonders of science
  • Support of a project or program involving science, engineering, business or a related area where Dow needs talented people
  • An opportunity to sustain and enhance the environment

YES! Expo
Thousands of Michigan area middle and high-school students travel annually to the future—their future—at the Youth Engineering & Science (YES!) Expo at Ford Field.  The mission of YES! Expo is to inspire youth to pursue education and careers in engineering and science.

Dow, along with more than 50 corporations and organizations, sent some of their most dynamic engineers and scientists to introduce the young people to the future that could be theirs. And students and faculty from more than two dozen colleges and universities, including Oakland University, Wayne State, the University of Michigan and Michigan State, showed the next generation how they can prepare for that bright tomorrow.  The YES! Expo is hosted by Michigan Technological University.
