Warm & Cozy Flannel Ornaments

Materials
STYROFOAM Brand Foam

- 3-1/2" ball for each ornament

- Wrapped Flannel Ornament -
- Plaid flannel fabric, your choice, 14" square
- Satin ribbon: 1/16" green, 10"; 1/4" red, 1-1/3 yd.
- Artificial snow-tipped pine greenery, 3-1/2" sprigs, two
- Cloth-covered floral wire, 3"
- Rag Ball Ornament -
- Plaid flannel fabric, your choice, 1/8 yd.
- Two-ply jute cord, 2-1/3 yd.
Instructions
Wrapped Flannel Ornament
- Trim edges of flannel with pinking shears. Center foam ballon wrong side of flannel square. Wrap flannel around ball,gather at top, and secure with a rubber band. Neatly trim fabric above rubber band with pinking shears (see photo).
- Insert awl or ice pick through center of gathered flannel and into foam ball, forming a small hole. Knot ends of 1/16"green ribbon together to make a hanging loop. Squeeze glue in ornament hole and then push knotted end of loop into hole. Let dry.
- Tie a 12" length of 1/4" red ribbon around gathered flannel to conceal rubber band. Glue pine sprigs over ribbon knot, letting them extend in opposite directions.
- Using a 27" length of 1/4" red ribbon, form a multi-loop bow and wire center to secure. Tie remaining red ribbon overwire to conceal it. Glue bow to center of pine sprigs.
Rag Ball Ornament
- Tear three, 3/4" wide strips selvage to selvage from flannel fabric. Wrap strips around foam ball to cover, gluing ends to secure.
- Use awl or ice pick to form a small hole in foam ball. Knot a 12" length of jute 1" from ends to make a hanging loop.Squeeze glue in ornament hole and then press knotted end of loop into hole. Let dry.
- Align three 12" lengths of jute and tie them in a bow. Glue bow to center top of ball at base of hanger. Knot ends of jute at varying lengths and then trim 1/2" beyond knots. Fray jute ends.
