Note: Felting needles are extremely sharp; use caution. Followmanufacturer's instructions.
- 1. Wax serrated knife with candle stub or paraffin and cutfoam ball in half; each ball will make two pins.
- 2. Place small amount of wool fiber against foam half-ball andattach to surface using felting needle; follow manufacturerinstructions to ensure safety. Continue felting fiber to foamuntil completely covered.
- 3. Cut and fuse two different 6" fabric squares, wrong sidestogether. Using air-soluble marker, trace large flower ontofabric, disregarding dashed circle inside flower. Cut out flower.
- 4. Repeat Step 3 to create additional large and small flowersfrom different fused fabrics. Refer to photo to layer flowerstogether; adhere centers with fabric glue.
- 5. If desired, use scallop scissors to cut small circle fromwhite felt; see dashed circle on large flower pattern forapproximate size. Adhere to flower center.
- 6. Adhere needlefelted foam half-ball to flower center.
- 7. Cut two 6" ribbon lengths, fold in half and adhere to backof flower with fabric glue. Adhere pin back to back of flower;let dry.Yo-Yo Variation -
- 1. For yo-yo flower pin, shown with yellow center, followSteps 2-4 above to create two large flowers, cutting centerfrom each as indicated on pattern.
- 2. To make yo-yo, draw 4-3/4" circle onto non-fused fabric andcut out. Sew gathering stitch around circle 1/8" from edge andpull up gathers tightly to create ruffled circle; knot andclip threads. Gather completed yo-yo again 1/4" from edge.
