| Words | ||
| To search for multiple words, separate them with spaces. A space between two words acts the same as an or operator. |

| Example - polyurethane polyolefin finds pages that have both polyurethane AND polyolefin in them |

| Phrases | ||
| To search for an exact phrase, surround it with quotation marks. | ||
| Example - chemical processing finds pages that have that EXACT PHRASE |

| Excluded Terms | ||
| A minus sign (-) immediately preceding a search term (word or phrase) excludes documents containing the term. | ||
| Example - adhesive resins -experimental finds pages that have adhesive resins, but NOT experimental, in them |
||
| Capitalization | ||
| dow.com searches are NOT case sensitive. All letters, regardless of how you type them, will be understood as lower case. | ||
